My name is Ahris, a 2009 NYU hotel school grad working in the food & beverage industry out here in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado. Here's a little bit more about moi:
I’m a home-cook still in training.
- My kitchen experiments are simply a series of trial and error as I polish up my skills in front of the stove/counter. There are PLENTY of kitchen techniques (flambéing, sushi-making, etc.) I have yet to try, and many cuisines I yearn to practice more of (Thai, French, Greek, Indian, etc.). So although I may know my way around the kitchen, I still consider myself somewhat of a novice.
I try to live a healthy life.
- I was never the genetically gifted one who can scarf down a McD’s meal without bulging or the one who can run a mile in a snap. With that being said, I still try my best to do my body good. I do have my bad “phases” where self-control is tough and temptation sets in, but I reach for veggies and fruits as much as I can while striving make fitness one of my top priorities. Lately I've been trying my best to eat organic, and to have several vegetarian days a week including meatless mondays!
But I love my bacon & and a good hunk o’ steak…
- From my experience, I truly learned the value of the saying “Everything in moderation, even moderation.” When I attempted to go “meatless” for 10days, I found myself binging on ice cream and fast food! Horror! So these days I let myself enjoy a treat here and there, but keeping in mind a healthy philosophy for the most part. ;)
And I’m always on a budget.
- When it comes to shopping, whether it’d be groceries or a pair of heels, I’m very price-conscious. This habit became apparent while living in Brooklyn, going to school in the city, maintaining a school-life-internship balance amidst babysitting to feed my needs. It’s definitely challenging, but not impossible! I plan my money on groceries wisely so that I can treat myself to a nice dinner once in a while. I’ll save money on everyday walking flats so that I can invest in a nice leather purse!
I’m also a new momma!
- Well…sort of. Starting this past October, I am officially adopting have adopted my family dog Yoshi (a 1yr-old Yorkshire terrier) under my wings as I moved to Colorado. He is definitely a rugrat, but he’s such a loving puppy most people find irresistible (right, Sam? haha). Not only am I excited to have someone(?) from home with me as I start this new life, but I’m also excited for Yoshi to enjoy the natural wonders that are so easily accessible in Colorado!
I think it's pretty obvious that my photos are taken with a simple Canon Point-and-Shoot. I'm still dreaming of a DSLR....
